Sebastian completed an MSc in Population and Public Health at UBC in 2025. His thesis uses advanced analytical techniques to understand latent developmental patterns among immigrant children and youth in BC.
His previous professional and academic experiences have placed him at the nexus between public health and data science, having previously worked in regional (Vancouver Island Health Authority) and provincial (BC Ministry of Health) health organizations while also leveraging nuanced analytical tools (e.g., R and Python) to provide evidence-based policy solutions (e.g., fine-tuning a multi-calss classifier to predict thematic contents of government documents as part of the Data Science for Social Good fellowship at UBC's data science institute). His present and future work seeks to encourage the adoption of nuanced analytical techniques to develop tailored supports for vulnerable populations and improve patient outcomes.
