Paul Gustafson is Professor and Head of the Department of Statistics at the University of British Columbia. He obtained his Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University in 1994. His research spans topics such as Bayesian methodology, causal inference, evidence synthesis, measurement error, and partial identification, with an emphasis on biostatistical and epidemiological applications throughout. He has published two research monographs, on measurement error and misclassification (2004) and partial identification (2015) respectively. Paul received the CRM-SSC Prize in Statistics in 2008, was named a Fellow of the American Statistical Association in 2011, and was the 2020 Gold Medalist of the Statistical Society of Canada. He is a former Editor-in-Chief of the Canadian Journal of Statistics, and he is currently the Special Editor for Statistical Methods with the journal Epidemiology. Paul was a founding Co-Director of the Master of Data Science program at UBC, which launched in 2016.
